French energy company Engie, reported that the statement on some press organs about Engie’s withdrawal from the second nuclear project to be built in Sinop is not reflecting the truth.
Engie announced that the company continues the feasibility studies of the Sinop Nuclear Power Plant Project with its partners. Technical, commercial, legal and licensable feasibility assessments are being conducted together with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Engie-Itochu and Electricity Production AŞ and that any decision on the project will be taken after the completion of feasibility studies.
The studies are expected to be completed only after March 2018.
The company known as GDF Suez before changed its name to Engie in April 2015.

Turkey’s second nuclear power plant will be built with Japanese-French partnership in Sinop, will have a capacity of 4,480 megawatts and be composed of 4 reactors. The first reactor of the 20 billion dollar project is planned to be commissioned in 2023.
