IAEA targets Syria

Mr. Yukiya Amano, General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) exacted Syria to disclose information about the Deir al-Zour site, which is alleged to be a nuclear power plant, and three other sites.

The IAEA stated that the destroyed building near Deir al-Zour must be inspected in order to guarantee the safety of the environment, and to show Syria’s commitment to international treaty.

Board of Trustees began the day holding its rotating in Vienna, which will last until September 23 and among the main topics to be discussed by the Council, the strengthening of international nuclear cooperation and nuclear security, storage and transportation proper and safe nuclear waste.

IAEA monitors closely the nuclear programs in Iran, North Korea and Syria and the implementation of safeguards in the Middle East.
