International Nuclear Security Seminar in Chengdu

From October 28 to 31, 2019, China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)jointly organized the “International Symposium on Nuclear Security ” in Chengdu. The conference mainly discussed the experience, challenges and good practices of nuclear security work for large-scale public events in the past 15 years. The seminar was co-organized by China Nuclear Power Institute, attracting 120 people from 35 countries and international organizations.

During the meeting, CAEA representatives held bilateral talks with IAEA delegate Raja Adnan, as well as Sichuan Counter-Terrorism Office, and achieved remarkable results.

As the official channel for cooperation between the Chinese government and the International Atomic Energy Agency, CAEA would conduct extensive research on nuclear security work for grand public events and organize relevant personnel of the security system to extend field research.

Sichuan Provincial Government intends to establish a cooperation mechanism with CAEA, and secure technical support from the International Atomic Energy Agency and China National Nuclear Security Technology Center as soon as possible, so as to fully prepare for the nuclear security technology needs and could ensure a good job in nuclear security personnel and equipment support.
