Iran plans to build Small Module Reactors

According to Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi, the country is planning to build SMR (Small Modular Reactors).

Iran is not negotiating with any country right now about the development of Small Modular Reactor. Currently Iran is focusing and assessing that either this new strategy will be feasible for the country or not and then the authorities will assess the partners who can cooperate with Iran in this field in addition to Russia.

Note about ALI AKBAR SALEHI: Iran vice President and the head of Atomic Energy Organization. He received the bachelors of Science degree in physics and from the American University of Beirut in 1971 and a PHD in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1977. He was appointed as head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran on 15th August 2013.

Note about ATOMIC ENERGY ORGANIZATION (AEO): AEO is the main official body responsible for Responsible for implementing regulations and operating nuclear energy installations in Iran.
