In 2015, James Fisher Nuclear (JFN) and CNNC joined expanded together in the decommissioning and waste treatment market and signed a first memorandum of understanding. The first target of this consortium, last November, was the tender for the shielding gate project in Sellafield.
Then, in May 2016, JFN successfully won the bid for British reactor decommissioning turnkey project. Both sides start planning the personnel dispatch contract. The main part of this contract is to dispatch Chinese technical and management personnel to this turnkey project and involve them in the design and management.
This first decommissioning project contract—Personnel Dispatch Contract for JFN Reactor Decommissioning Turnkey Project was signed recently in Beijing.
In addition, during the signing ceremony China Nuclear Industry Management Cadres College (NIMC) and JFN signed another decommissioning training contract in the UK. This foreign-related training program is organized by CNNC and approved by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA). The training course is mainly around the laws and regulations of UK decommissioning and disposal, regulatory body and institution, principles of bidding and tendering and the best practices in decommissioning.
