KA.CARE plans in nuclear and renewable energy

King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KA-CARE) has been the national entity entrusted in charge of two major projects: Nuclear Power and Renewable Energy. For the latter one, KA CARE started a cooperation with the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

KA CARE just announced its assessment of the energy planning  for the nuclear is 60% finished and 80% for the renewable. The investment forecast is 140 Billion USD by 2030.

What is unclear, is the selection of the technoloty. Ka Care indicated that it is possible to select the technology by 2017 and to have the first unit in operation by 2022. But in its intent to build 16 reactors, there is no information about the The city, after a year of construction, stated that in 2017 construction will begin, and in 2022 the first reactor will be operational.

In one of the most important statements of the city, its intent to build 16 reactors, even if there is evidence of this, does it indicate that the city has already completed the selection of technology, and determined that 16 reactors of the selected technology will provide the required amount of nuclear energy in Mix national energy! Does the city have any study indicating this great achievement?
