Al-Mayadin Network spoke with Ali Akbar Salehi, head of The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution victory. We picked up four key points of the interview.
- Iran has the ability to enrich uranium at a high level. Iran has begun the construction of a new generation of centrifuges known as “IR8”. Iran has been working on these centrifuges for five years now, and it will take five or six years to complete. Iran plans to have 80 centrifuges.
- Iran has reached the stage of self-sufficiency stage in some matters, such as the production of the nuclear reactor such as Arak, and it is now able to build nuclear research reactors for any Islamic country.
- Iran wants to collaborate with nuclear scientists from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and the rest of the Gulf states, at least in the nuclear security context of joint committees.
- Recently, a team from the WANO (World Association of Nuclear Operators) visited Bushehr Power Plant, giving it a high degree of safety.
