May 2010: Turkey’s first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu NPP, started with an international agreement signed between Turkey and Russia in May 2010.
October 13th, 2011: The Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK) gave the existing Location License to Akkuyu Nuclear.
November 2013: The Akkuyu NPP Site Report which was prepared under the Ground License Conditions with the installed capacity of 4,800 MW has been approved by TAEK.
December 1st, 2014: The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) prepared by Akkuyu Nuclear was approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
June 25th, 2015: Akkuyu Nuclear obtained Pre-licence from The Regulatory Authority of Energy Market (EPDK).
June 29th, 2015: Akkuyu Nuclear signed a contract with Cengiz Construction for the design and construction of marine hydrotechnical structures.
February 28th, 2017: Licensing and Public Relations Director Kürşad Tosun stated that Akkuyu A.S. applied to TAEK for construction license and to the Regulatory Authority of Energy Market (EPDK) on for electricity generation license. The radiation monitoring devices should be installed at 16 different locations, so that TAEK and AFAD (disaster and emergency management chief) are working for the site selection. Mr. Tosun added also that an emergency management center will be established within the scope of the project.

Mr. He Yu, President of China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) and Mr. Ren Hongbin, President of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) reached this
