Macron officially announces the Sino-French battery business

Chinese Xiamen Xiamen Tungsten New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. is to set up a joint venture in the battery industry with the French company Orano.

This venture will be established in the northern French port city of Dunkirk, with an expected investment of 1.5 billion euros, which will create 1,700 jobs, French President Emmanuel Macron said on May 12.

Xiamen tungsten new energy specializes in the production of lithium battery materials, especially power batteries. Macron pointed out that Xiamen Tungsten Xinneng’s joint venture with Orano is a “complement” to Huineng Technology’s factory, as the company will be “upstream” in the production of electric vehicle batteries.
