New capacities for the Iraqi electricity grid

The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced on Monday (March 11th) the integration of new 2000 MW to the system of the local distribution grid. It also confirmed that its current production exceeded 12 thousand MW.

“The production of energy in the country has now reached 12,600 MW, and despite the forced extraction of generating units because of the maintenance works, the system was supplied with 4500 MW”, said “Mosaab Al Modares”, the spokesman for the ministry.

“Al Modares” said that these units will enter in stages before the summer season next; in order to contribute to improving the reality of readiness of the country. He pointed out that the next few days, will witness the evaluation of the performance of companies winning service contracts and collection through a committee formed by the ministry.
