New plants in Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryna

Minister of state in the Prime Minister’s office Jitendra Singh recently declared that India is exploring different sites to establish nuclear power plants.

The possible sites are Dehradun in Uttarakhand, Patiala in Punjab and Bhiwani in Haryana. He further added that within the next ten years India will generate 25% of its electricity through nuclear power plants as the need of energy is growing faster in India and this source of energy is cost effective.

Rajasthan has 6 NPP while Uttar Pradesh has 2 NPP and the 14 remaining are located in southern and western India.
