NPCIL Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) organized in August a seminar in Kakrapar Gujrat site* at Valia Institute of Technology, valia, District Bharuch.
Around one hundred students attended the seminar that consists of two lectures:
- The Indian Nuclear Power program (by Professor Shri Ajit Kumar), including global energy scenario, Indian need of nuclear power, three stage Indian nuclear power program and waste management.
- Radiation-A fact of life, environment impact assessment around Kakrapar Gujrat site and DAE (Department of Atomic Energy India) -Social benefits (by Dr. C.P.Joshi).
During the seminar students raised various question regarding safety aspects of Nuclear Power Plant, Chernobyl Accident, Radiation dose for human beings, environmental impact, level of natural radiation in our environment etc.
*Kakrapar Nuclear Power Station (2 x 200 MW HWR) lies in the proximity of the city of Vyara in the state of Gujrat.
