NPCIL social responsability

Last August 2016, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) organized a people awareness program at the training center of Narora Atomic Power Station (Uttar Pradesh, district of Bulandshahr). A public of 315 people visited the plant (two units of 220 MW) and leaned about operation and safety culture in the plant.

The visitors went to the energy information center and briefed about the reactor system, the turbine building, a 3D model of the coolant system, the fuel bundle etc.

During the session, the operator introduced the following aspects of the plant:

  • Working and operation at NAPS (Narora Atomic Power Station).
  • Safety and security used during power generation.
  • Why nuclear is safe and important for mankind.
  • The environment safety culture.
  • The radiation incidents and return on experience

After the session of Q&A, the visitors finished the visit in the turbine building control room and the laboratory of environment test.

Note:  Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) is a state owned enterprise under the administrative control of the department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The company was registered as a Public Limited Company under the companies Act. NPCIL is responsible for design, construction, commissioning and operation of nuclear power reactors.
