Nuclear medicine in Turkey

The 29th  National Nuclear Medicine Congress organized by the Turkish Nuclear Medicine Association (TNTD) was held in Antalya on 10-14 May 2017. At the congress with “Nuclear Medicine in Future Medicine” theme and 400 participants, the latest developments and innovations on nuclear medicine expertise have evaluated.

President of Nuclear Medicine Association of Turkey and Nuclear Medicine Professor Dr. Zehra Özcan at Ege University Faculty of Medicine explained that among the total number of 80 PET / CT and PET / MR devices used in cancer diagnosis and treatment in the world, Turkey has 3 of them. “In Turkey, nuclear medicine has caught many European countries and the United States in terms of device and human power, as well as scientific research and productivity.”
Ms. Ozcan also added that the number of nuclear medical experts and the staff of the health worker should be increased.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are about 540 nuclear medical experts in Turkey and approximately 390 devices that perform conventional nuclear medicine tests.

The Russian loan stops Dabaa Nuclear power plant

President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi approved last May, the loan agreement with Russia worth $ 25 billion to build four units of 1200 MW in Dabaa. The Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Finance tackle back and try to stop the loan process and its impact on the economy during the next 13 years.
