Postponement of the nuclear project in the UAE

In a statement on the sidelines of a conference in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (January 9th), UAE Energy Minister Suhail Al Mazroui said that the project of his country’s nuclear power plant has been postponed a little.

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has announced earlier that the launch of a reactor in the nuclear power plant, which was scheduled to open in 2017, will depend on the outcome of other reviews of the project.

The Baraka nuclear plant is located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It consists of four advanced APR1400 nuclear reactors. And it is expected to contribute about a quarter of the UAE’s electricity needs when fully operational.
