The actual start of the First Concrete Day (FCD) with the participation of Russia is the first in Bangladesh NPP Roppur is scheduled for September this year.
The site of the first nuclear power plant “Roppur” is located on the eastern bank of the Ganges River in the district of Pabna, about 160 kilometers from the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka.
The station will consist of two WWER units of 1200 MW each, built according to the Russian NPP-2006 project.
This project belongs to the generation 3+ technology with improved technical and economic indicators, and meets the most up-to-date requirements for reliability and safety.
The first stone in the beginning of the construction of the “Roppur”NPP was laid in the fall of 2013. The unit 1 is planned to be commissioned in 2022 and unit 2 in 2023, both plant will be used for 60 years.
The cost of the project, according to Bangladeshi media, will amount to 13 billion USD. Russia provides a state export credit of up to 11.38 billion USD, which will be used by the Bangladeshi side betwen 2017-2024.
