Russia and Tunisia nuclear agreement

Last month, during 60th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Sergei Kiriyenko and Tunisia’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Slim Khalbous Russia signed in the name of Russia and Tunisia an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the nuclear energy field.

The agreement stipulates the establishment of a joint board to complete the consulting services in the following areas:

* Improvement the existing nuclear infrastructure in accordance with the international recommendations;

* Investment in engineering and construction of research nuclear reactors;

* Assessment of the uranium deposits as well as exploration of other Tunisia’s mineral resources

* Creation of joint scientific projects
