Russia will build six new units in India

Russia will build six new nuclear units in India. The countries came to such an agreement on October 5 on the margins of the 19th Russian-Indian summit in New Delhi. The document was signed by the general director of the Russian company, Alexey Likhachev, and the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, Kamlesh Vyas.

It is noted that the parties, in addition to the desire to develop the project to build six nuclear power units of Russian design in India at a new site, will increase their cooperation in third countries. They also talked about cooperation in new promising areas in the nuclear power industry.

According to the document, for the new-site NPP project, the Russian side will offer the reference evolutionary design of the VVER generation “3+” and intends to increase the localization level in India.

“We are satisfied with our strategic cooperation with India, where the construction of Kudankulam NPP units for Russian design is currently under way ,” Likhachev said.

He added that he expects to receive in the near future an order for the same serial construction of our units at the new site. Other deals in the pipeline:
