Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister announced recently that Russia set up a cooperate plan with Saudi Arabia in the field of innovation, development and investment for the nuclear activities.
The cooperation will be through establishing nuclear projects in Saudi Arabia. These plans were discussed in the joint press conference with the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubayr. Lavrov added that “Rosatom” will be the Russian representative in this cooperation.
This conference was held in the aftermath of Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to Russia to sign a cooperation agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The agreement includes providing nuclear fuel services, establishing water desalination, training expertise in the field of nuclear energy … etc.
Saudi plans to build 16 nuclear reactors within 25 years. Its goal is to generate 20% of the total required energy for the country.
