The head of Russia’s Nuclear Research University, Tatiana Leonova, announced on April 12tha new milestone in the Russian – Egyptian cooperation in nuclear education: “The university has signed a cooperation agreement with Egypt’s Ain-Shams University to prepare students to work later at the Egyptian nuclear power plant (Daba’a)”,
“In Four years, the best of those students will work on the construction of AL-Daba’a nuclear power plant, when the first and second reactors will be in operation, as planned, as by then, the nuclear station would need about 1500 specialists to work on the reactors”.
Ms. Leonova explained that Ain-Shams University will become the first university in Egypt working to prepare specialists in the field of nuclear energy.
She added that the joint cooperation between the two universities won’t be restricted to train Egyptian students by Russian specialists till the bachelor degree only, but will also extend to send the best students to pursue their higher studies, to obtain a master’s and doctorate degrees, in Russia.
It is worth mentioning that the project of “Daba’a” nuclear power station was launched on December 11, 2017, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the presence of Russian President, “Vladimir Putin” and Egyptian President, “Abdul Fattah al-Sisi”, where they signed documents and contracts, Authorizing the start of execution for the project.
