Schneider Solar launched the biggest solar energy power plant in Egypt

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohammad Shakir, launched the biggest power plant that generates electricity from solar energy with a capacity of 200 KW at the rooftop of the administration building of Credit Agricole Bank Egypt. The project costed 169,614.8 USD.

The power plant was inaugurated with Dr. Mohammad Shakir, Francois Edouard Drion, the Managing Director and Senior Country Officer of Credit Agricole Bank Egypt, and Waleed Shatta, Managing Director if Schneider Electric Egypt. The Egyptian Energy Minister stated that the project is part of Egypt’s plan to diversify energy resources through increasing the use of renewable energy to generate electricity. The plan is to produce 20% of renewable energy in the overall energy mix in Egypt by 2022.

The power plant will generate 294.977 KWH covering 7% of electric power demand of the building per month. It will also reduce the harmful emissions by 147592 KG of Co2.

The power plant was executed by Schneider Electric within five months and it started operating in the first quarter of 2017.
