The 4th Istanbul Nuclear Power Plants Summit (INPPS) was held in Turkey from March 8 to 9, 2017. China’s State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) attended the summit as the main sponsor.
Wang Fengxue, vice president (acting president) of SNPTC, addressed the opening ceremony and introduced the course of nuclear power development in China and valuable experience that China gained in nuclear power localization.
President Wang expressed the company’s willingness to share experience and discuss the path forward for nuclear power development with other countries. During the summit, President Wang also met with Fatih Dönmez, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Turkey, to discuss the Chinese investment in the third site.
During the exhibition, SNPTC displayed the progress in research and development and the construction of the demo project of the CAP 1400, as well as the localization of Gen III nuclear power equipment, the qualified supplier system, its project management and other core businesses through models, videos and panels.
Nuclear experts from different countries visited the SNPTC booth and exchanged views with their Chinese counterparts on concerned issues.
During the summit, SNPTC, with China First Heavy Industries (CFHI), Harbin Electric Corporation (HEC), Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) and Shanghai Electric Corporation (SEC), held a sub-forum entitled “China’s Nuclear Power Technology and Equipment Localization”, which served to share experience with nuclear experts of other countries and mostly the Turkish industry.
The two-day summit (INPPS) was hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, the Nuclear Industry Association of Turkey and the Turkish Nuclear Engineering Society.
INPPS covered topics concerning advanced nuclear power technology, safety of nuclear power plants, nuclear power localization and so on. The summit was attended by over 200 delegates from IAEA and other international organizations, and from nuclear power agencies, energy enterprises and equipment manufacturers of over 10 countries.
