The largest solar complex in MENA with over $ 2 billion investments

The head of the New and Renewable Energy Authority, Eng. Mohammed Al-Khayat, announced that the total investment in the Binban Solar Power Project is $ 2.2 billion, mostly from international and regional sources of finance.

Al-Khayyat predicts that the percentage of renewable energy in Egypt will reach about 16%, 11% of the electricity produced from the existing networks plus about 5% of the projects under implementation, and thus will reach 16% before 2020.

The Egyptian cabinet has announced the completion of the construction of a solar complex in Aswan, which is the largest solar power plants complex in MENA.

The complex includes 32 solar plants with a capacity of 1465 MW, equivalent to 90% of the capacity produced from the high dam, and will be completed by mid-2019.
