The next serie of Hualong

Following Fuqing 5 & 6 (Fujian province), Fangchenggang 3 & 4 (Guangxi province), the next batch of application sites for Hualong No. 1 was identified Zhangzhou (Fujian Province) and Taipingling, Huizhou (Guangdong Province). They already have the conditions to start groundwork during the year and will use the merged “new” Hualong No. 1.  Xu Pengfei, general manager of Hualong International Nuclear Power Technology Co., Ltd., said that after merging the technology between China General Power (CGN) and China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC), the Hualong was upgraded at 1,2 GW.

The development, construction, operation and management of Zhangzhou and Huizhou Taipingling are under the responsibility of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN).

Zhao Jiaxue, project manager of China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., said that the planned capacity of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant will build four units in phase 1 and two units in phase 2.

Zhao Chengkun, deputy director of the China Nuclear Energy Industry Association’s expert committee, pointed out that due to the reduction of nuclear power projects, China lost many skilled personnel. He suggested that the Hualong No. 1 follow-up unit should be started immediately without waiting for the demonstration project to be completed.
