The operation license for Barakah NPP may be issued in first quarter of 2020

The Director General of the UAE Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) stated, on 27th of November, that the license to operate the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant could be issued in the first quarter of 2020, followed by the start of the first reactor.

The $ 24.4 billion Barakah power plant is the largest nuclear project under construction and will be the first of its kind in the Arab world.

“If there is nothing new, we may be in the first quarter of next year, we are working on it,” said Christer Viktorsson, the Director General.
