Time to diversify sectors on nuclear localization

Lütfi Elvan, Minister of Development and Veysi Kaynak, Deputy Prime Minister, participated in the Turkish Contractors’ Union’s (TMB) dinner.

Mr. Elvan said that the contracting services and construction industry are the locomotive of the economic growing but their standards should be improved. He added that human sources needs to be strengthened, that the vocational training gain importance and that the efficiency increase. Underlining that technical consultancy services are inadequate in Turkey, he added that they also foresee to support it.

Turkey has a 12,000-kilometer high-speed railway project to be realized and two nuclear plant projects in the next 6-7 years. He stated that if the products to be used in these projects are produced locally, Turkey would have got a return of 15-20 billion dollars from these projects. Mr. Elvan also addressed businessmen working in the construction and contracting fields: ” It is important that you are slowly turning to production areas especially having back and forth connection with construction field”.
