Yantai to be China’s Nuclear Industry Center

According to the national and provincial strategic deployment in Shandong province, to optimize the adjustment of regional energy structure and promote the construction of ecological civilization in Shandong peninsula, in the next 5 to 10 years, Shandong peninsula area, centering on Yantai city, will bring together AP1000, Hualong No.1, Guohe No.1 and HTGR nuclear projects, thus forming a picture of intensive and large-scale construction of nuclear power projects.

This year, 2020 China International Nuclear Power Industry and Equipment Exhibition also moved from Beijing to Yantai for the first time.

“In the future, Shandong will become China’s new major and strong nuclear power province following Zhejiang, Guangdong and Fujian, and Yantai will become a central city in the development of nuclear power industry in North China.” Ye Qizhen, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, points out.

In addition, Haiyang will also launch a large-scale desalination project with a daily output of 300,000 tons this year, which will improve the reliability and flexibility of water supply in Jiaodong area.
