Zio Podolsk’s jackpot in Kudankulam

 

Zio-Podolsk, the machine engineering division of Rosatom has been certified to supply equipment For Kudankulam unit 3&4. Zio-Podolsk is 51% owned by Atomenergomash. It is the only manufacturer of steam generators for nuclear power plants in Russia.

Zio-Podolsk was recently assessed by Nuclear Power Corporation India Limited (NPCIL) and the general contractor Atomstroyexport Engineering group (ASE). Members of NPCIL visited Zio-Podolsk facility to inspect the technological infrastructure and manufacturing capacity of the division.

Zio-Podolsk will produce 8 sets of separator super heaters and the same number of high-pressure pre heaters for the new reactors at Kudankulam. Zio-Podolsk will also supply reactor vessel, main circulation pump, coolant pump, suppression pools and support plates for main reactor.

Note:

India is generating almost 2000 MW from kundankulam Nuclear power plant units 1&2. Rosatom will build units 3&4 of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant on April 2017, and is likely to sign this autumn an agreement for units 5&6. Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNNP) is located in the Tirunelveli district of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
