The Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (AEA)is the operator of the plant based in the nuclear research center at Inshas ,which is located 40-60 kilometers northeast of Cairo.
The reactor is water tank light (WWER) with a capacity of 2 MW including payload and fuel elementary of 3.2 kg of uranium U235 enrichment of 10% (EK -10)
During the eighties, the reactor has been modernized under the supervision the International Atomic Energy Agency.
