Iran goes back to school

Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Head of AEOI (Atomic Energy organization of Iran) was in London recently to attend the World Nuclear Association symposium on 16th of September 2016.

During his visit, he met with the Head of World Nuclear University Ms. Patricia Wieland* in London. Both discussed about the cooperation in the field of nuclear studies.

According to Ms. Patricia Wieland, the University will organize some courses for Iranian students and Iran will send their students to pursue education in this field.

The World Nuclear University (WNU) is a worldwide network of educational and research institutions engaged in peaceful uses of nuclear energy. WNU offers a range of unique nuclear educational and training programs around the world, organized by the WNU Coordinating Centre in joint collaboration with members of the WNU network. WNU’s four founding members consist of two industry organizations: the World Nuclear Association and the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO); and two intergovernmental organizations: the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development

*Patricia Wieland, Physicist, PhD in Industrial Engineering from Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro. Head of the World Nuclear University (WNU). Member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Section of the American Nuclear Society from 2013 to 2016. She worked at the Department of Nuclear Safety of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna for almost six years, developing international recommendations on nuclear communications and training in safety.
