Recently Chinese top officials visited Iran to discuss civil nuclear cooperation with Iranian counterpart. The Chinese delegation went to Arak heavy water reactor which is also known as IR-40, the reactor is a 40 megawatt (thermal) heavy water unit.
Mr. Sun Qin, Head of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), along with other member of China recently met Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AE OI) and Mohammed Ahmadian, the managing director of Nuclear Power Production and development Company as well as officials in charge of Modernization project of Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor.
During talks, both sides expressed interest to cooperate and expanding relation in all areas related to use of civil nuclear energy and the modernization of Arak reactor.
