The Vice President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy K.A.CARE, Dr. Waleed AbulFaraj, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom, Mr. Bakyt Batyrshayev.
Several aspects of mutual cooperation between K.A.CARE officials and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the areas of peaceful uses of atomic and renewable energy were discussed. Both states have steadily developing economies based on vast resources of oil, gas, metals and other minerals. Kazakhstan as well as Saudi Arabia must diversify their economy and started mutual investment opportunities*.
During the meetings, Saudi Arabia confirmed its presence at the International Energy Expo 2017 in Astana (from the 9th of June until the 9th of September, 2017) on the theme of future energy.
Mr. Batyrshayev, who used to work at the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) is an advocate of the strategic cooperation with Saudi Arabia such as the creation of the Saudi-Kazakhstan Business Forum.
The basis of the Saudi-Kazakh relations was established within the framework of official historical visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Noursultan Nazarbayev to Saudi Arabia in 1994 and official visit of the Second Deputy Prime-minister, Minister of Defence and Aviation of Saudi Arabia Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz to Kazakhstan in 2000.
*In April 2016, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov held negotiations with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Adel Al-Jubeir who came to Kazakhstan to pay an official visit. The negotiating sides were engaged with interest into the discussion of bilateral cooperation development. The sides agreed to enhance partnership in several areas, including peaceful use of nuclear energy, petrochemistry, defense and implementation of infrastructural projects.
