Rosatom is not in Sudan for a Kajaik

Russia and Sudan signed a cooperation agreement in the field of atomic energy for peaceful purposes in November 2017 during the visit to Russia of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. The Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity of Sudan, Muataz Musa Abdalla Salim and the Director General of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, signed the agreement.

Last December, the representatives of Rosatom were Khartoum, for the first time, to negotiate the development of cooperation with Sudan.

Sudan’s ambassador to Moscow Nadir Yusef Al-Tayeb Babiker noted that representatives of Rosatom came for the intergovernmental commission of the Russian Federation and the Sudan, between December 19-21. The commission was headed by Hashim Salem (Ministry of Minerals) and Sergei Donskoy (Minister of Natural Resources and Environment)

The discussion was held with the representatives of the Ministry of Electric Power. Both sides expect the development and promotion of the nuclear project this year.

Rosatom is already preparing a commercial offer on the construction of a nuclear power plant and a center for nuclear science and technology.
