King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KA CARE) hosted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 15 to 24 July 2018 for an integrated review of the INIR nuclear energy infrastructure. The review comes as a key reference for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to assess Saudi Arabia’s efforts to develop the infrastructure for the introduction of atomic energy.
The INIR is a service provided by the Agency to Member States for an integrated and comprehensive assessment of the presence of international experts with competence in nuclear energy programs and infrastructure development.
One of the objectives and merits of the review is to provide Member States with an opportunity to assess the nuclear energy infrastructure, focusing on areas requiring further work, thereby improving the atomic energy infrastructure, and setting up a forum for expert discussions and exchange of experiences related to infrastructure development.
At the end of the review, the Agency will make some recommendations and proposals regarding the improvement and development of the atomic energy infrastructure in the Kingdom,
King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy will develop a work plan in cooperation with business partners and with the participation of government agencies to implement the recommendations of the Agency and work on improving the infrastructure for the introduction of atomic energy in the Kingdom.
