Atomic Energy: A progress in quality of life in India

The Indian Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) recently organized for scientists and journalists from all over the country a three-day workshop in Karwar, Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, close to Kaiga nuclear power plant. The DAE and the National Union of Journalists India (NUJI) organized together this workshop named “Atomic Energy: A progress in quality of life”.

The outcome of this workshop aimed to broadcast through the media to the residents in the area about the benefits of nuclear. The four units which are near the Kali river have been operating since 2000.

The workshop aimed to dissipate the fear of radiation and nuclear energy. The complete process of production of electricity from nuclear was explained. The scientists answered openly to the questions from representatives of the media and explained why the risk of radiation is higher in Bangalore and other cities than in Karnataka’s Kaga nuclear power plant.
