Rosatom contacted with leaders of dozens of African countries

Over the past two years, Rosatom contacted with leaders of dozens of African countries. The corporation, which is currently building a US$ 29 billion nuclear plant in Egypt, entered into negotiations with Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia and the Republic of Congo.

In several African countries, Rosatom provides local nuclear physics training and oversees a fellowship program in Kenya.

Rosatom is involved in the construction of a VVER in Bangladesh. The capacity of such reactors is more than 1000 Mw. However, there are very few countries in sub-Saharan Africa that can supply such quantities of energy. South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya are the only countries that can use such large scale power plants.

NBN Tip:

We consider that Rosatom will promote the RITM-200M in the African continent under the BOO model, a plant more conformed to the local needs. Check JSC Afrikantov OKBM for more details.
