Libya signed with GE to develop the national electricity sector

GE International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Libyan Government of National Accord to install new production capacities in the field of electricity and upgrade the existing power stations in Libya.

The MoU, signed on September 25th, in New York, and sponsored by President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al Sarraj, included renewable energy projects – wind and solar power – and electricity transmission and distribution projects.

The memorandum proposed a program of work in line with Libya’s first five-year plan in the field of electric power, which aims to increase capacity by about 6,000 MW.
