Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez, stated that the feasibility study prepared for Sinop nuclear power plant is not adequate in terms of calendar and price. Turkey postponed the construction of the Sinop Nuclear Power Plant, while the construction license for Akkuwu Unit 2 will soon be awarded.
Dönmez indicated that Mitsubishi dropped the construction of the Nuclear Power Plant in Turkey and that Japan is no longer on the agenda for the construction of Sinop. The government was already looking for other investors since 2018, including Korea and Russia.
