The schedule for the operation of El Dabaa nuclear power plant

The Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA), in cooperation with Rosatom, the Russian company responsible for establishing the first nuclear power plant in Egypt, has prepared the schedule for the operation of El Dabaa nuclear plant.

The following is the timetable for operating the four nuclear reactors at El Dabaa NPP:

  • February 9, 2026: the date for operating the first reactor.
  • August 12, 2026: date for operation of the second reactor.
  • August 12, 2027: operating the third reactor.
  • February 9, 2028: operating the fourth reactor.

The nuclear plant to be built in the city of El Dabaa in Matrouh Governorate, on the shores of the Mediterranean, about 130 km northwest of Cairo, includes four power units with a capacity of 1.2 GW each (4.8 GW total planned capacity), featuring the 3+ generation reactors type (VVER 3+).
