South Africa has signed power purchase agreements with developers of a small part of the projects it had already chosen a year ago to generate electricity from renewable sources.
The state-owned utility company, Eskom Holdings, has concluded deals to purchase energy from three planned wind power plants, which are being developed by the “Electricité de France”. This comes as one of the solutions for the ongoing struggle with power outages in the country.
It is noteworthy that “Electricité de France” is the largest producer and supplier of electricity in France and the world. Électricité de France now has 60 days to reach financial closure, and projects could be available online by December 2024.
