CAS nuclear design software meets European standards

Recently, the neutron transmitting design and safety assessment software system “SuperMC”, independently developed by the Institute of Nuclear Safety Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, has passed the applicability evaluation of the European nuclear fusion demonstration reactor (EU DEMO). Evaluation report reveals that “SuperMC” fully meets the nuclear design requirements of EU DEMO and is recommended as the nuclear design software for the EUROfusion demonstration reactor.

The assessment was completed by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany, which is an important member of EuroFusion. The results of the evaluation report show that the function and performance of “SuperMC” has significant advantages in deep penetration effect processing, simulation of complex pore leakage phenomenon, and high performance calculation of complex systems.

EU DEMO is a large-scale nuclear fusion research and development project independently carried out by EuroFusion. It is an important milestone in the development of commercial fusion power plants in Europe and aims to accumulate technology and experience for the broad commercial applications of fusion energy in the future.
