CBRN management

The Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK) organized the first CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) workshop in its history. CBRN stands for harmful and dangerous situations which are caused by the intentional or accidental spread of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear materials and which are harmful to human and to the environment.

Academicians from various universities and representatives from stakeholder institutions such as Ministry of Health, Ministry of National Defense, Red Crescent, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management), Public Hospitals Institution, TAEK (Turkish Atomic Energy Authority) and TÜBİTAK participated in the workshop.
The Chairman of the Council of Higher Education Dr. Yekta Saraç said that with the active participation of universities and academicians on CBRN in Turkey, they aim to increase the potential of the country in the fields of “determination and defense” and “rapid diagnosis and treatment”.

Mr. Saraç also stated that the Council of Higher Education is planning to develop programs for undergraduate and graduate programs to rapidly meet the needs of trained personnel in the areas where CBRN is needed, to develop the required technology for the CBRN products and to increase the number of researches on health care interventions and training of  academicians in this issue.
Following the speech, ministries, public institutions, organizations and university officials participating in the workshop made several presentations on this field.
