CNNC dominates Rossing uranium mine

On July 25, CNNC and Rio Tinto held handover ceremony of Rossing Uranium Mine in Namibia. CNNC officially holds the world’s fourth-largest uranium mine, the Namibia Rossing uranium mine, which owns 68.62% of its shares and becomes the new controlling shareholder.

About 500 people, including Zhang Yiming, Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Hon. Kornelia Shilunga, Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy of Namibia, Deputy General Manager of CNNC He Zixing, CEO of Rio Tinto Energy& Minerals Bold Baatar, attended the project handover ceremony and witnessed the historical moment.

Namibia is an important partner of China. After the handover of Rossing uranium mine, CNNC will support its continuous operation and provide tax and employment security for Namibia. As a strong backing, CNNC promised to support the Rossing uranium mine to a new glory.

On November 26, 2018, China Uranium officially signed the Rossing Project Equity Transfer Agreement with Rio Tinto Group. On June 21, 2019, the Namibian government approved the equity transfer.

Officials in charge of the Finance and Capital Operation Department of CNNC participated in the relevant activities above.
