The core catcher in Akkuyu

The Russian State Nuclear Energy Agency (Rosatom) has tendered the preparation of a protection system the core catcher for reactors no.1 and 2 of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

Developed by Russian nuclear experts, this system provides protection of the nuclear power plant in case of an accident involving nuclear fuel meltdown in the reactor.
The core catcher was first used at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant, that Russia built in China.

In the other hand, about the fuel delivery negotiations to Akkuyu nuclear power plant, Rosatom Overseas announced that it will support is subsidiary TVEL.
