Dubai is at phase four in its solar energy project

In 2013, the Dubai Government established a new solar energy project as part of the plan to increase the clean energy in its overall consumption rate to 75% by 2050.

The first phase of the project included 152 thousand photovoltaic solar panels with the capacity of 13 MW. The second phase, which was launched in March 2017, started at the capacity of 200 MW.

The Dubai Government confirmed the deal with the Saudi ACWA Power and the Chinese Shanghai Electric. The project was approved and both companies will execute the fourth phase of “Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Energy Complex.” The deal is worth 3.8 Billion USD.

The fourth phase consists of a power plant with a capacity of 700 MW and will be launched by the final quarter of 2020. The project is planned to generate 1000 MW by 2020 and 5000 MW by 2030.
