Hydrogen train makes 700-mile journey across Germany

Emission-free travel over a distance equivalent to the length of Great Britain has been achieved in Germany by a railway train powered using hydrogen.

The passenger train covered 734 miles without stopping to refuel on a route from Bremervörde in the north of the country to Munich in the south.

The distance covered during this trip is similar to the journey from Thurso, the most northerly station in Scotland down to Brighton on the south coast of England.
