ACWA Power’s Chairman, Mohammed Abunayyan, announced that Sakaka Solar PV project will be launched in Al-Jawf, Saudi Arabia, with a production capacity of 300 MW, before the end of the year.

The investment cost of the project amounts to 1.2 billion Saudi riyals ($ 320 million) and is part of the King Salman initiative for the National Renewable Energy Program.

The project is expected to generate enough clean energy to supply 45,000 residential units with electricity in Al-Jawf region, and “to cut more than 500,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.”
