The Iranian nuclear expansion

Iran began the construction of its second nuclear power plant with the help of Russia on Saturday 10th September 2016. The Ground breaking ceremony was attended by First Vice President of Iran Mr. Eshaq Jahangiri, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi, head of state energy nuclear corporation of Russia (Rosatom) Mr. Sergey Kiriyenko and Governor of Bushehr Mr. Fereidon Hasanvand.

Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi at the ceremony said that this project is very important and unique for Iran and he really wants to complete this project on time.

According to Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi the nuclear industry of Iran is growing significantly and they want more success in that particular area.

Sergey Kiriyenko state energy nuclear corporation of Russia (Rosatom) said that the plant would be built according to highest safety standards. (see other article about the standard).

By building these two nuclear power plants Bushehr 1 and Bushehr 2 Iran will save 22 million barrels of oil per year.
