Lekela begins construction of a 250 MW wind energy project in Egypt

Lekela Power, a company specialized in the field of renewable energy projects, started construction work for the West Bakr wind power plant, with a production capacity of 250 MW.

“Faisal Eissa”, general manager of Lekela Egypt, said that the project, which is located 30 kilometers northwest of Ras Gharib in the Gulf of Suez, will be completed in September 2021.

Eissa explained that this project will increase the wind energy in Egypt by 18%؜, and it will produce more than 1000 GWh annually, in addition to reducing more than 555,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The general manager of Lekela Egypt indicated that this project will be implemented in cooperation with Siemens, which will be entrusted with the technical and technological aspects in all stages of the project.

The power purchase agreement was signed in February 2019, and the project itself was financially closed during August of the same year.
