Namibia welcomes Chinese investments

On November 8th, Namibian President Hage Geingob met with Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan in the capital Windhoek. President Geingob said during the meeting that the Rossing uranium mine is one of the important strategic projects between two states.

He added that the Namibian government is committed to promoting domestic economic development and will be open for Chinese companies to expand investment in Namibia’s infrastructure and mining fields.

In July 2019, CNNC and Rio Tinto completed the handover of Rossing uranium mine in Namibia. As the controlling shareholder, CNNC held 68.62% shares and became the new operation management.

In addition, it has established Rossing Foundation which is devoted to the community development and life improvement in Namibia, including Namibia’s national education, poverty alleviation, SME development, and environmental protection.
